You know VICE? That free glossy street press full of articles about drugs, sex and violence? Loads of great photography of tits, arse, and vast eerie landscapes? It’s hip. It’s underground. It don’t need your money to know it’s cool.
VICE has a photography issue out and it’s full of the above. To celebrate the launch of their new baby they put on a show at China Heights featuring large scale prints of some of the featured work in the mag. Asger Carlsen, Carmen Catuti, Annie Collinge, Philip Cheung, Simon Davidson and Elizabeth Renstrom were the artists in the spotlight.
China Heights was packed and buzzing with folk keen to get in on the action. It was a great night. It reminded us that art, free magazines and free beer are a great way to get a party started.
Although the exhibition is over you can still pick up copies of the VICE Photo Issue 2012 from somewhere near you. Perhaps the hallway at China Heights? Keep an eye on the ground, it’s definitely worth a look!
Next time strobed lock the doors and start a fire. Could have taken out 90% of syds dbag hipsters!
I think there are some laws surrounding the starting of fires in buildings? I’m no expert…
