Sarah Hendy @ Chalk Horse

Last week Melbourne born artist Sarah Hendy gave a lucky Sydney audience the chance to enjoy the opening night of her second solo exhibition. Chalk Horse opened it’s doors to the cold night to reveal menacing black walls and eerily lit artworks. As a side note, it was not easy to photograph.

Like Thieves Newly Loosed in That Dark Electric was an exhibition of detailed oil paintings on paper, canvas and hessian. Hendy’s imagery comes from stock photos, which she reinterprets in her own style. She invites the audience to create their own back-story for the images, rather than presenting a clear narrative in her body of work.

Chalk Horse was busy, despite the cold, and filled with art lovers soaking up the atmosphere.

The exhibition continues until June 30th, get along and check it out.
