Second year students from Sydney College of the Arts were in the spotlight for RAW: a group show from 5 artists currently studying sculptue, performance and installation art.
It was so great to see a snapshot of what these artists are doing. While all of them are studying together they are taking their work in entirely different directions.
Stack by Alexandra Reid was cut disks from books. We loved it.
The exhibition was opened by well known Australian sculptor Ken Unsworth (who also happens to be a senior lecturer at SCA). Ken made a quick speech about his joy at seeing hands-on sculpture practice still alive and well.
A big crowd of family and friends were present to support the artists and enjoy the food, wine and DJs.
This was our first visit to Verge Gallery, and it really is an impressive space. We hope that it’s profile continues to grow as it really does provide a great facility for emerging artists associated with the University of Sydney and the SCA.
