So we finally made it to an opening at Articulate Project Space! It’s been on our to-visit list for a while now.
The opening that got our attention was blackandwhite, a group show from Helen Sturgess, Margaret Roberts, Chantal Grech, Brendan Flaherty, Jacek Przybyszewski, Bettina Hill, Lesley Giovanelli and Jane Gavan (please tell us if we’ve missed anyone!).
The exhibition was a collection of works in black and white. Drawings, sculpture and installation works filled the downstairs space of the gallery. As well as being technically impressive, there was a sense of fun and humor throughout the exhibition.
Meanwhile, upstairs in ArticulateUpstairs, Collection 4 was also opening. This was an exhibition curated by Adrian Clement. A group show with the simple concept that all works should be blue. The artists involved were John Adair, Matthew Allen, Daniel Argyle, Clementine Barnes, Majella Beck, Louise Blyton, Sue Callanan, Christopher Dean, Rhonda Dee, Richard Dunn, Nicole Ellis, Beata Geyer, Alexandra Kennedy, Melanie E. Khava, Suzie Idiens, Kyle Jenkins, Ben Lang, Lindy Lee, Stephen Little, Kate Mackay, Francesca Mataraga, Sarah Newall, Alicia Poppet, Alex Pye, Samuel Quinteros, Paul Raguenes, Margaret Roberts, Marlene Sarroff, Liz Shreeve, Masato Takasaka, Esther Tonkinwise and Justin Trendall.
It was very blue. The works came together nicely. Perhaps Clement was a bower bird in a past life?
Enjoy the photos and make sure you check out Articulate Gallery. As well as having some great art, the space itself is very cool.
