It’s been almost a year since Gallery A.S. popped up at the old Paramount Pictures Building in Surry Hills. Last week she was back. The artist in the spotlight was Ben Barretto with a new series of woven wall hangings and abstract paintings.
In comparison to Barretto’s past work the show did seem a little tame: no performance, motion sensors or drop sheets involved. At least not that we could see! But we’re all for change. The show featured a civilised series of paintings and hyper-colour creations woven from ropes and cables hung on the gallery wall. Anyone who’s ever visited the rope aisle at Bunnings or done a bit of rock climbing would find the show familiar.
The exhibition continues until Saturday 10th of November. Don’t be intimidated by the seemingly abandoned building, duck in a check it out.
