Give A Trunk @ Monster Children

“10 artists, 10 charities, 10 original works of art” was the hype for Rhythm’s Give a Trunk fundraiser. It turned out to be an excellent summary of a charity auction that bought together some big names in the Australian art scene.

This event was pitched primarily to interested bidders, with each winner taking home not just their work of art, but also a custom pair of Rhythm board shorts to match. We snuck up to the gallery before the auction kicked off to collect some snaps of  what was on offer.

Simon Lovelace, head honcho of blank_space gallery with “Give A Trunk” – Mixed media on canvas with glass coat.

Edward Woodley, co founder/curator of China Heights donated “Black pocket detail pt.2” Acrylic, canvas & resin.

Beastman brought his “Nautical by Nature” giclee print to the table.

Photographer Scott Lowe donated “Baloons” giclee print of mixed media on paper. The boardshort version of this art work was actually worked really well.

Ben Frost (far right), well know pop artist and man behind StupidKrap.com, donated “Free while they last” – customized print on canvas.

Photographer Elle Green’s work “Jodie” photographic print.

As people started filing in we also snapped Emma Bertoldi’s work “I Heart Zombie Movies” – aerosol/paint pen on wood canvas (left) – and Monster Children man himself Campbell Milligan’s piece “Wrecking Ball No.1” – giclee print on paper (right).

Eager crowd with eyes on the auctioneer, there was some serious bidding happening.

This happy bidder scored herself the Ben Frost piece.

With the excitement of the auction over, the happy artists, bidders and spectators made the most of generous sponsorship.

We think all-in-all a very successful night, ending with 10 very appreciative charities we’re sure.
