MEGA – Longing to be Knotted Together @ China Heights

Mega

What a surprise, it’s Friday night and here we are again at China Heights! This time it is French artist/designer/journalist Mega in the spotlight. This guys is seriously talented. The show “Longing to be Knotted Together” is here in Sydney as part of an international tour that will take Mega across Australia, Asia and Europe.

The exhibition featured a selection of untitled large scale paintings, as well as a series of hand pulled screen prints on vibrant colored paper. Mega’s lines and typography can’t help but remind us of Mike Giant, who turns out to be one of Mega’s influences. Definitely good taste.

The jumble of cultural references in each work was brilliant. Mega prides himself on keeping and open mind when it comes to his themes and styles. Clean lines and a sense of humor, if not irony tie his works together.

Really loved the tribal/street figures that featured across the series.

It seems that the winter lull has started to kick in, with crowds at a “comfortable” level.

Thanks again to China Heights for bringing another exciting artist to our attention (and our shores).
