We’ve been a big fan on TwoOne’s work for a long while now and catch his work at group shows in Sydney when we can. It’s impossible not to love his delicate illustrative style. When we heard that TwoOne, aka Hiroyasu Tsuri, was having his first commercial Sydney solo show at MiCK we knew we had to be there.
The collection was a departure from TwoOne’s illustrative street style. He is evolving as a painter and experimenting with themes, materials and scale. His new work on huge sheets of paper is incredible. In this series, Psychological Portraits and Metaphysical Portraits, Tsuri taps into emotional and magical representations of his subjects. Large gestural paintwork ties in with his familiar animal subjects and fine lines.
If your a fan of TwoOne, or of the curious link between street and fine art, you should really check out this show. It continues at MiCK until October 21. If only we could afford a few of his works…
